This sculpture depicts a circuit rider spreading the gospel to remote regions of the American west. The figure is mounted on a large, stout horse that appears to be worn out, perhaps he has heard this sermon more than a few times. On the bronze base of the sculpture is stamped a scripture which states "For what is a man profited, shall he gain the whole world, and loses his soul?" Matthew 16-23.
