Commission Objective

To sculpt larger than life war memorial figures based on a local artist, Rogers Aston’s 10” war figure studies, with the agreement that I was to choose the live models and conduct detailed research on the actual uniforms and weapons unique to each time period. This research required finding military artifacts in surplus stores and at military artifacts dealers, as well as interviewing veterans of the different wars. This work preceded the DeSanders portrait figure which I was commissioned to execute in it’s entirety to be the centerpiece of the memorial plaza.
