Commission Objective
This was a commission I received from the New Mexico Chapter of Gold Star Mothers. I chose to depict the mother seated on a stone shortly after the presentation of the flag ceremony. Perhaps she is reflecting on her loss in a quiet moment she takes for herself, still clutching the flag with the same hands that once held her child.
